Media Insurgente was a film collective that operated from 2005-07. Its mission was to capture important contemporary struggles for social justice. The idea was for the collective to generate media that could be used as a tool to further organizing around the subjects featured in its work. Media Insurgente sought to fuse the dynamism of journalism with the power of activism, and thereby encourage further participation in social justice movements through education and inspiration. After completing four films together the collective decided to disband. Its members are still involved in numerous projects striving for social justice, from producing independent media to community organizing.

Colectivo Media Insurgente was Javier Armas, Kyle Gleason, David Zlutnick, and Justin Miller, with help from Scott Foletta, Ali Rahnoma, and Emily Encina.
